
Alaska Judo, Inc. (Alaska Judo) is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As such it is governed by its members who collectively form the Board of Trustees, holding two Board of Directors meetings annually. Officers are elected from the general membership and committees are formed to handle the daily operations of Alaska Judo. The committees are:
The Executive Committee consists of the elected officers of Alaska Judo, namely the President, first and second Vice-presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, and Membership Chair. This committee holds the board meetings, sees that the Board of Trustees decisions are carried out, as well as making decisions that require attention before a board meeting can be called.
The Board of Examiners oversees the promotion of all Dan grade promotions as well as the promotion of Kyu grades where a school does not have sufficient promotional authority within their school.
The Coaching Committee is responsible for coach development and certification in the state of Alaska.
The Referee Committee is responsible for Referee development and certification in the state of Alaska.
The Public Relations Committee is responsible for general communications, mailing lists, and website maintenance. As well as building relationships with local news media to increase the coverage and exposure of Judo in Alaska.
