Referee Clinic Jan 28th, 2014 7:30 at MVJ Dojo. Sensei Calvin Terada IJF “A” Referee put on a great Referee Clinic last night at the MVJ club. We had about 15 coaches, referees and competitors attend the 1.5 hour clinic. Congrats to Eric Wuttke our newest Local referee. Eric was presented with his Local Referee certificate at the recent fireweed Fall Brawl Tournament over the weekend. Eric, Job well done!!!
AJI help send 4 national level referees to the Continental Crown Judo tournament on November 2nd 2013. Those that traveled to Seattle over the weekend were Mark Langberg , Bruce Neeno, Steve Rust, Dave Cheverie. This events gives our referees experience refereeing some national caliber competitors and they also get to referee with International level referees. The experience gained here helps to raise our referee levels and standards here at home.
At the October 26th, 2013 Creepy Crawly Tournament we jumped into the deep end and went with one referee on the mat and the two judges watching from the side lines using the Judo Care Video System. We also used the new radio systems that we trained on the previous week at Anchorage Dojo. Alaska has three more CERTIFIED NATIONAL REFEREES. CONGRATULATIONS TO Jay Watts, Howdice Brown and Mark Langberg. And to Swanee Swain for being Re-evaluated to the National level. They all passed their examination at this year (2013) State Championships which was the first time that the State Judo Championships was given the Authority to be used as a National Evaluation Tournament. Big congrats to these guys as they did a great job representing Alaska Judo.

All three passed their examination at the 2012 Continental Crown held in Seattle this last week end. The Evaluators said these were strong candidates they and Alaska should be very proud of their performance. Please take a moment to congratulate these guys as they did a great job at a high level event. Alaska Judo now has 5 national certified referees active on the mat!
