Divisions are determined by actual age, not year of birth. U7, U9 and U11 may be CO-ED divisions depending on number or entrants. The Tournament Director reserves the right to make changes to divisions if there are insufficient contestants. The general rule is to move an athlete up a weight and/or age division if there is less than three Judoka in a division.
WEIGHT CHALLENGE: Competitors are responsible for weighing in at their dojo under the supervision of the dojo instructor and providing accurate weight. There is no weigh-in at the tournament, however weights will be verified as needed. If a coach or official believes a competitor’s weight and bracketing may create an unsafe condition, the competitor will be asked to verify weight. At the discretion of the tournament director, an inaccurate weight may disqualify the competitor.
Competition area is IJF regulation size, 14m x 14m.
The CARE system will be used in refereeing.
RULES:
Current International Judo Federation Contest Rules as modified as follows:
Current IJF medical rules will apply with the exception that a competitor may ask for a doctor without losing the match; and a doctor may ask to examine a competitor without that competitor losing the match.
Co-ed competition will be allowed in this tournament for age 10 and under only if there are not enough participants to fill a division.
Junior competitors under the age of 13 (thirteen) will not be allowed to use strangulation techniques.
Junior competitors under the age of 17 (seventeen) and any novice competitors will not be allowed to use joint lock techniques.
Junior competitors (with the appropriate waivers signed) competing in a senior division will be allowed to use chokes and joint locks in the senior division, except for novices and anyone 15 years of age and under.
Except when a competitor is competing in more than one division, a 3-minute rest period will be required between back to back matches. When competing in more than one division, back to back matches not in the same division will not require a rest period.
Scoring will be double elimination, except scoring for 3-man brackets will be round robin. The winner may have lost once; all other contestants will have lost twice.
Judo Gi: The new judo gi sizing rules will not be enforced. Competitors must have a white judogi. Blue judogi is optional. Blue and white obis (belts) will be provided. White player wears a white judogi and white obi. Blue player wears a white judogi and blue obi or a blue judogi.
All matches will be three minutes.
ELIGIBILITY: Age cut-off date: March ,23rd 2024. Students 5 years old and older on March 23rd, 2024 will be allowed to participate. All competitors must be current members of the United States Judo, Inc., the United States Judo Federation, the United States Judo Association, or of a foreign judo organization with appropriate letter verifying that the competitor is currently registered with that organization. All contestants will be required to provide verification of registration. Verification can be made by attaching a copy of the current registration card, or a copy of the current USJF, or USJA computer printout showing current membership. $10 10 day USJA memberships can be purchased at USJA.net before the tournament or at time of check-in.

NOTE: THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADJUST COMPETITION AND DIVISION SCHEDULED AS NEEDED BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPETITORS. PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY AND BE READY TO COMPETE.
REGISTRATION:
Coaches or Player are to email Donald Kent (kent.donald@gmail.com) with player information in the following Excel format if possible. Weight check will be conducted during Registration time as needed.
Coaches please compile the whole club team and send it on one spreadsheet, it is greatly appreciated. We must receive this information by Wednesday, March 20th (9 p.m.) for you to play. Players may enter more than one division. I.E., compete in an older age division or heaver weight division. Just add a note in the additional division column.
COST: $40 for each competitor, and $15 additional division per contestant. Make checks payable to Excel Gymnastics. Cash will be accepted at registration as well.
All non USJA/ USJF members must purchase a 10 dollar 10 day USJA membership to compete in this event. This can be done on USJA.net before the day or at time of check-in.
COMPETITION ENTRY FORMS AND WAIVERS: All waivers must be properly signed; failure to do so may result in elimination of the judoka from competition.
Provided the necessary competitor information has been submitted for bracketing by the deadline, the Entry Fee, Registration and Waiver forms may be brought to the tournament venue during check in time. Coaches - you must email your player information in by Wednesday, March 20th. Please include members rank as it will help with bracketing
MAIL IN OPTION – it is allowable to mail the Entry Fee, Registration and Waivers forms (to arrive no later than Monday March 18th, 2023). Coaches - you still must email your player information in by Wednesday, March 18th 2024.

FOREIGN COMPETITORS NEED TO FURNISH PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP IN YOUR NATIONAL ORGANIZATION TO BE A COMPETITOR AT THIS TOURNAMENT. A COPY OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD MUST BE FURNISHED WITH YOUR APPLICATION AND MUST BE BROUGHT WITH YOU TO THE TOURNAMENT.
We will have a Senior Open Weight Division if there is enough interest. Register for the Open division at the venue.
